Recently HQGC was privilege to be invited to the Silkwood Dreaming Festival.

The festival celebrates Spring – An Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people’s cultural celebration with music, stories, dance and traditional games, featuring ‘Yugambeh Country’ lore.

Silkwood School is part of Kombumerri country and the wider Yugambeh language region.

The school culture is a place to be shared, nurtured, valued and provides great strength and guidance for everyone involved with the school. It truly is a school of peace and nature, the kids were all so polite, happy and engaged.

We thoroughly enjoyed the festival and school tour, and special mention should go to Silkwood Schools commitment to advancing a greater understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures within the school and the community.

HQGC looks forward to working closer with Silkwood in 2020 and future years.
